Technology & self-regulation for older drivers
Date: 2nd July 2020
Time: 2:00pm - 3.00pm
The 'Ageing and Safe Mobility: 21st Century Streets' webinar series is running through June & July. In this session, Julie Gandolfi from Driving Research, will discuss the findings in her new report 'Supporting Older Driver Mobility and Effective Self-regulation', meanwhile John Plowman (Road Safety Foundation) will discuss the next steps with the Older Drivers' Task Force.
Over the last decade, much of the focus in the field of driver risk management has shifted onto the role of the driver as the architect of their own risk profile, and the importance of self-evaluation and self-development has been emphasised. For older drivers, their risk profile is situationally skewed by age-related declines, but effective self-regulation strategies can nevertheless mitigate those risks.
